The Arc Suppression Capacitor produced by Piner suppliers refers to a component that integrates an X2 compliance capacitor and a resistor internally or externally to form a standardized, plug-and-play "anti-interference - absorption - protection" composite function module. In essence, it is a compliance capacitor specifically designed for the AC power input end and integrated with a damping resistor.
The primary function of the X2 capacitor: as a differential-mode filter capacitor, it is connected in parallel between the live wire (L) and the neutral wire (N) to filter out high-frequency interference. At the power input end, it frequently suffers from high-energy, high-voltage pulses generated by lightning surges, inductive load switching, and electrostatic discharges.
Although the X2 capacitor is designed to withstand certain pulses (such as 2.5kV), repeated and extremely powerful pulse impacts will shorten the product's lifespan and even cause failure. Additionally, the capacitor will generate a large surge current during the charging process.
The core function of the series resistor:
Damping and current limiting: The resistor can effectively limit the instantaneous charging current of the capacitor when the pulse arrives (I = V/R), and consume part of the pulse energy, thereby significantly reducing the direct impact of the pulse on the capacitor itself.
Protecting the capacitor and enhancing system reliability: By using the X2 capacitor, the lifespan and stability of the system in harsh electromagnetic environments can be significantly improved.
Suppressing resonance: It can prevent the parasitic inductance at the input end and the X2 capacitor from forming unnecessary resonance.
